In Maths this week, the children have made links to their understanding of converting units of mass and lengths previously to convert units of capacity. From this, they discussed the difference between capacity and volume. They used manipulatives to create cubes and cuboids and used length x width x depth to calculate the volume of a range of shapes. From this, they were able to problem solve.

We thoroughly enjoyed completing our learning of Snakes vs. Iguana. We wrote in present tense to engage our audience, writing David Attenborough’s commentary in our own styles. At the end of the week, we had a lot of fun reading them out to the rest of the class in role as the naturalist. By Friday, we enjoyed making some iguana artwork!

As part of RE week, we learned about Islam, focusing on the important role that Mohammad had and still has today for Muslims. From this, we wrote in role as Mohammad after receiving god’s message and we designed our own prayer mats using appropriate patterns and colours. The children also understood the importance of Qu’ran for Muslims and learnt how children find out more about god. We also discussed different scenarios and what we would do in a range of situations.
We also enjoyed creating our own variables in Scratch to make code as part of our Computing learning. Children had the opportunity to consider how the world works by ‘looking inside’ systems to see the code. For example, when the score of a football match changes, a click of a button creates an event, which adds +1. We loved making our own!
