It has been another great week at school!

English

Continuing from last week's learning, we have been writing in the role of Jamie. However, this week we have been writing an email to Jamie’s dad about how much he is missing him and his meeting with Dr Forster. After this email, we wrote in the role of Jamie’s dad replying to him. We used informal language, emotive language and embedded clauses.

Next week, we will be writing exploring an explanation text about how to do certain things in space!

Maths

In Maths this week, we have been learning about length. We have calculated the perimeter of rectangles and composite shapes. Also, we have been finding the area by multiplying the length and the width of a rectangle. Today, we finished by estimating the area using objects we drew round in class.

Next week, we will continue with our length learning but focus on converting between measurements and solving problems using the four operations.

Thematic / PSHE / Values

This week, we have been continuing our ‘Stargazers’ topic. We have looked out how the Earth moves in relation to the sun completing an investigation using balloons, a torch and blue tack. During this experiment, we videoed our results and presented them to the class.

Next week, we are focusing on the movement of the Moon in relation to the Earth and creating our own phases of the Moon model.

Love to Learn

Love to Learn will be handed out on Monday afternoon. The task is to watch the Moon over the next month and see what the different changes are. There is a sheet to be filled out.

11th December – Chilton Christmas Fair from 3.15 – 4.30

17th December – Year 5 and 6 Church performance at 10am

19th December – Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 Christmas party day (party clothes to be worn)

20th December – Christmas jumper day (children can wear usual school uniform with a Christmas jumper)

20th December – School Christmas dinner

20th December – Last day of school; School finishes at 2pm; No after school club on this day
