Weekly news
In maths this week, year 2 have investigated the features of 2D and 3D shapes. They used vocabulary such as vertices, sides, edges and faces. Also this week, the children have begun to work with repeating patterns as well as looking at using language to describe direction (turn, left, right, clockwise and anti-clockwise).
In English, the children have ben using adjectives and sentence openers to describe a range of settings such as underwater, on a beach and at a theme park. They have produced some lovely writing!
In topic, year 2 have been investigating the habitats of animals. They have discussed where animals may live and for what reasons. They have also classified animals, looking at the features that make an animal a mammal, amphibian, a reptile etc.

Home learning
This week, we would like the children to practice telling the time. The children could create a game to help them, take pictures of themselves telling the time or create a mini-lesson, teaching others how to tell the time.
As an extra challenge, the children could use the 24 hour clock or digital time!

* Next Thursday (4th April), year 2 will be making their own shoe box habitat in class. For this, the children will need to bring in any equipment they need to make theirs including a shoe box or a box. We will provide scissors, card, glue and other school items but if the children have anything they need, they can bring that in. For example: toy animals, toilet rolls, glitter glue, cotton wool or any other materials. If you have any questions, please email us.
