Team Turquoise and Team Cyan Weekly News w/b 25th April
English
In English this week we have continued our learning of The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge. This week we have focused our learning on writing and answering questions in a variety of ways such as being reports or being the Lonely Beast himself asking why one of our friends didn't come to a party. We have started to become very confident with using a range of punctuation independently in writing. GO YEAR 2!
Next week we will be starting the book Surprising Sharks.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been looking at the 4 operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We have been going over these methods so the children are confident at knowing which strategy to use for example arrays for multiplication but sharing circles for division. We ended the week with going through special booklets as we will be starting these from next week.
Topic
In Topic this week we started our brand new topic 'A Pirate's Life For Us!' We kick-started the week off by visiting the smugglers caves at Pegwell Bay. We had such a lovely trip and the children were amazingly behaved.
We then started our Art Part where we created sea creatures! We drew the creatures in white crayon first of all and then painted over it with water colours. Take a look at some of the masterpieces that were created.
Later in the week we started looking more into the history of smugglers in Thanet. We learnt about the notorious smuggler group The North Kent Gang that smuggled all over the coast such as Reculver, Herne Bay and Ramsgate! Using this learning we wrote a fantastic piece of writing pretending we were a smuggler on a trip.
Love to Learn
We have noticed a slight dip in Accelerated Reader quizzes this week so we would love for everyone to complete an AR quiz as this weeks Love to Learn.
Just a reminder that the username is your child's first 3 letters of their name plus their surname for example EmiDavey and the password is chilton (lowercase)

- Can you please ensure your child comes into school with a water bottle. We have cups and jugs of water available however unfortunately we have been having many spillage accidents recently!
Have a lovely long weekend and we will see you on Tuesday :)
