Term 5 Week 4
Maths
This week in maths we have been learning to solve word problems! We know how to read it carefully, underline the important information and find the calculation! We have had fun writing our own word problems and being detectives looking for clues to find out whether we should add or subtract.
Good to be ME!
This week we have been writing clues about ourselves and finding out more about one another. We have designed our own jumper/top from different materials. We discussed the importance of being different and how wonderful it is being us!
Mornings
You will see a few slight changes over the next week in year one’s morning routine. We are starting to introduce children to ‘Morning Journals.’ This will be your child’s diary, they will need to complete an activity on the board i.e. how are you feeling today? What did you have for breakfast etc. Then they will have an opportunity to write whatever they please in their journal. This will be followed by a well-being activity, such as Yoga! This is in preparation for their transition into year 2 and also an opportunity to express their feelings and develop their writing skills.
Home Learning
“My Home Town”
Where we grow up plays a huge part in our lives – shaping who we are, what we do, who we know and where we go! For your home learning project for ‘Good to be Me’, over the course of Term 5, we would like you to create something that tells us all about what ‘My Home Town’ means to you. This home learning can take any form – there is no right or wrong way but you can be as creative as you like!
Notes
We just want to say a huge well done to all of Year 1 for their behaviour and maturity this week. This week has been slightly different than usual, with the year 6 SATS going on. We want them to know how proud we are of them and how wonderful they are.
