Weekly News!
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been looking at place value! We have looked at missing hundred squares and had to complete the blanks, this helped us understand that you add ten when looking under a number and subtract ten when looking above! We also looked at tens and ones and discussed what numbers were greater than or less. To help us we having been having fun using base 10!
Topic
This week in Topic, we have wrote persuasive letters to encourage people to eat healthy! We have used all the facts we know about healthy diets and used this to support us. We had an exciting lesson looking at how and why food is used for celebrations and festivals! We tried Lapsee, a warm sweet porridge, eaten to celebrate Diwali. We also tried Indian spiced rice, which is eaten at the end of Ramadan. We looked at how different smells remind us of different celebrations, for example; Cinnamon reminds us of Christmas!
Behaviour Trip
A big well done to those children invited on the behaviour trip to the park. Children staying at school this day will still be having a fun treat, led by Miss Dudley Smith.
Exit Point
For our ‘We are what we eat’ topic exit point, we would like all children to bring in a favourite family dish or a special family pudding to share and explain the value/importance of. For example; Nanna’s famous apple crumble or a traditional family snack i.e. homemade sausage rolls. Please label all dishes with ingredients. This will be held on Wednesday 17th July.
