Read, Write Inc.

This week we have been working so hard with our sounds and have been practising our red words!

Most of us are now working on our Set 2 and 3 sounds. We are working our socks off! Any practise with set 2 and 3 sounds at home would be extremely helpful!

Maths

This week in Maths we have been looking at distance, length and measure.

We started the week by completing a range of activities to help our ‘distance’ language. The vocabulary we used was near, nearer, nearest, far, further away, the furthest away. We used this language when playing with cars, rolling tape near a target and jumping!

We then moved on to height and length! We compared items around the classroom, using the language short, shorter, shortest, tall, taller, tallest and long, longer and longest. We also used cubes to measure a range of items around the classroom to! We have had a fabulous maths week this week!

Topic:

This week we started the week by looking at the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. We had to label them and made sure we remembered which part was which!

We then moved our learning on by looking at the seven continents! We had to create a huge continent puzzle, play a fun game, based on continents on the ipad, make the continents out of playdough and place the continents in the right place of a map! We did an awesome job!

At the end of the week we started looking at the 5 oceans and what can be found in or around them!

This week we would love for you to compare different heights and lengths! This could be in your family, leaves you find outside or even your shoelaces! Remember to use our special vocabulary! Have fun! (You can show this any way you wish!)
