Good morning reception.
This week we welcome back some of our reception children to school for 2 hours at a time.
Our blog posts will continue and will mirror the learning that the children will be doing at school.

This week’s challenges have a twist. The Olympics would have been happening this year in Tokyo but, due to the current circumstances, they have been postponed to next year. All challenges from now on will be Olympic events.
You will be an Olympian! Choose your country and participate in the event using your imagination! I cannot wait for these pictures and videos J

Our phonic lessons will be slightly different from this week. There will be a Yellow Chilli challenge, which will follow the Read Write Inc online programme that we have been doing on the blogs and the Red Chilli Challenge, which will take form of a classroom lesson.

After practicing writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘c’ and ‘g’ just as we did last term.

Say the sounds on the flash cards (homemade ones are just as great!) practice about ten of your sounds.
Your sound today is ‘e’ say ‘e, e, egg’
Now practice writing the sound ‘e’ until you are confident in forming the sound. As you write it you can say the rhyme to help, lift of the top and scoop out the egg.
We are now going to read, hold and write a sentence.
Read the sentence:

Take it in turns to say the sentence to your adult and your adult to you. We usually do this 2-4 times each.

Writing task.
We are going on a writing journey across the seas on a pirate ship to find…. A WANTED pirate!
Today is our first mission. We need to know what he looks like. Here is his description:
He is tall, has one wooden leg (he lost to a jelly fish), blue eyes, long black hair, a dirty brown coat, his hat has three points and is black and he has a parrot named Gerald who is blue, red and yellow.
Your task today is to draw what the pirate looks like. You are going to use this to ask people in your house if they have seen him! Good luck.
Maths
Number hunting! You are going on a number hunt today. Take a piece of paper with you and search your home for numbers. When you see a number write it down on your paper. Let’s see if you can fill your page up!
Challenge: what numbers didn’t you find? Write these down too!
Topic
Pirates are tricksters and want to catch you out. Can you spot the differences between these two pictures? Write them down.
We are going to create our own treasure map this week. Your task today is to find a box and decorate it, this will be your chest. If you need some inspiration, have a look here:

Yesterday you drew the WANTED pirate but today we need to give him a name. What could his name be? I have some information that may help you give him a name. He smells of fish, likes eating squid, is very mean, steals other pirate’s ships and has a scar across his face. Think of a few names that might reflect his character and then pick your favourite.

Now you have your treasure chest, you are going to fill it with treasure. You can make your own, put things that are important to you inside or research what pirates would put into treasure chests!

Two parents, one from Chilton and one from RAPS have started a 'Go Fund Me' page called Ramsgate books for change. Their aim is to raise money to buy a diverse range of fiction and non fiction books initially for Chilton and Raps and then hopefully for all Ramsgate schools.
