Important messages

- Term 5 begins on Tuesday 22nd April.  We hope you have a wonderful Easter break!

-SATs week is the week commencing Monday 12th May and run on the mornings of that week until Thursday.  The children have worked incredibly hard to practise for these and have made huge progress. 

- Complimentary breakfasts will be served from 8am from Tuesday 6th May (Monday 5th is a bank holiday) for 2 weeks.  We welcome and encourage all children to come along - even if they would prefer to eat breakfast at home.  

- Activity week will start from Friday 16th May with our trip to London

- Elev8 on Monday 19th May

- Boonies on Tuesday 20th May

- Ramsgate Tunnels on Wednesday 21st May

- Be Here, Be You, Belong Celebration on Friday 23rd May (Dress to Express).  At 2pm on this day, we will be having a parade on the KS2 playground, which parents are invited to.

Maths

In Maths, the children have learned how to locate points on a 4 quadrant grid using co-ordinates.  From this, we translated shapes in different directions.  Towards the end of the week, children learned more about 3D shapes, identifying the vertices, edges and faces of a range of shapes.  The children had a fun competition to make different 3D shapes out of straws... they certainly had fun doing it!

After reading more of Kensuke's Kingdom, the children wrote in role as Michael to create a flashback.  We based it on Michael walking along the beach before finding a piece of glass that sparks a memory of him creating fire in the playground with his friend, Eddie.  This is how he will survive life on the island!  We focussed on a range of tenses, shifting from present to past back to present tense.
