English
This week, the children have been writing dream sequences based on the main character, Michael’s, experiences of his new home including finding the man in the garage and exploring the attic with Mina. The writing focussed on using a range of sentence types including simple, complex and compound. The children also drew birds and performed poems about owls linked to the themes within the text.
Maths
This week, the children have been learning about Fractions, beginning with finding equivalent fractions, using the method of ‘what we do to the denominator we do to the numerator. We then converted mixed numbers into improper fractions e.g. 3 ½ = 7/2.
Afternoon lessons
We have, this week, continued our thematic topic – my home, my country. We have found out about three Viking and Anglo-saxon kings and decided which one was the best leader. The children have also learned about Danelaw introduced by Alfred the Great.
This week, in Art, the children have sketched lightly in pencil ready to paint next week, using tertiary colours. This week in computing the children began to design a website.
Home Learning
To create a piece of learning based on fractions to show in a creative way something we have learned this week.
