21/03/25 Weekly News!

Year 5 wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for their efforts on Greek day. It was amazing and everyone had a great time! If anyone would like to donate their costumes to the school, please bring it in. It would be very much appreciated.
English
This week, we have continued with our book ‘The adventures of Odysseus’. We have been finishing our non-chronological reports on the mythical creatures that we created. We have used conjunctions to explain its habitat and we have changed our formality in the did you know section. We finished the week by describing Odysseus using descriptive and figurative language.
Next week, we will be writing from the viewpoint of a character. We will be writing about Odysseus, his son and his wife about their different adventures.
Maths
This week, we have been working on place value to the nearest thousandths, comparing and ordering decimals and rounding decimals to the nearest whole number.
Next week, we will continue with rounding decimals and moving onto time.
Thematic
This week in Thematic week we have been learning about ancient Greek philosophers and how they have impacted our lessons today. We also created our own advert to persuade others if the Olympic Games was a good invention for history.
Next week, we will be working on design and technology. We will be creating our own moving cams toy based on a Greek God or the mythical creature we created.
Love to Learn
This week, we would like you to create your own Greek God. Think about its strengths, powers and what it would be God of. You can create this as you would like. It could be a drawing, painting or a collage.
