What a wonderful week we have had! We have been particularly impressed by the space model most children brought in –we could see a huge amount of effort from the pupils and their families. Please read on to find out what we have been up to and what’s happening next.
English
This week, we wrote in role as Jamie from our class text. We learned how to use informal language and also write emotively. In a diary entry, we wrote how Jamie’s day had been when he met the professor at the abandoned observatory. Next week, we will be writing emails from Jamie and also then a reply from his dad.
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been learning about the properties of 2D shapes. We then used this knowledge to discuss the nets for 3D shapes. Next week, we will be learning about the area of shapes, both by calculating and estimating.
Thematic
This week, we learned the order of the planets and how our solar system moves in relation to the sun. We also learned how the Sun is orbited by the Earth, the Earth rotates and how the Moon orbits the Earth. Next week, we will be investigated how it appears the Sun moves across the sky and finding out why this appears this way. We will also complete our oracy task this term when we present our findings.
Love to Learn
Pick a memorable day you’ve had in your life so far. Please write an informal and emotive diary entry for this day. Use our learning this week to help you. You could write in this your Love to Learn book, make a physical diary or add photos/draw pictures.
