Weekly News! 28.3.25
Year 3 have had an amazing week of learning! Well done to Harry for his efforts at the VAT Speaker competition this afternoon!
Maths
In Maths this week, we have continued our statistics unit, focusing on both Venn and Carroll diagrams before moving on to a money recap where we used number lines to help us find the correct amount of change required. Next week, we will be revisiting Time.
English
In our English lessons this week, we have continued reading ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ and are now so close to the end of the book! In our writing, we have focused on our punctuation and sentence structures whilst writing in a role as a range of different characters in diary entries. Next week, we will be continuing to write in role.
Thematic
In Thematic this week, we have completed our Term 4 unit, ‘Revolutionary Romans’. First, we looked at the different outfits that the Romans wore and how these could reflect their individual status. We then learned about the different gods and goddesses that the Romans worshipped before designing our own Lararium which we will create on Roman Day.
We also enjoyed a wonderful day out at the Beaney and the Roman Museum in Canterbury. Here, we studied Roman artefacts, saw the remains of a Roman townhouse, used catapults to knock down a city wall and created our own Romans coins. All of the children that attended were incredibly sensible and everyone had an amazing time.

Monday 31st March is Roman Day and children are invited to attend school in Roman attire. We will be completing a number of Roman based activities including writing in role as a Roman soldier and studying Roman numerals. We will also be completing our RE Term 4 unit on Jewish Celebrations.
Love to Learn
For this week's Love to Learn task, please could children write in role as a character/person of their choice. This can be about anything they like.
