One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News! 21.3.25

Year 3 have enjoyed another wonderful week of learning!  Here's what we have been up to:

Maths

In Maths this week, we have been working on our statistics skills! We started the week by interpreting data in tables, we explored a range of data and used our word problem skills to answer questions on them. Later in the week, we moved on to presenting data in tables. Next week we will be continuing with statistics and then moving on to money.

English

In our English lessons this week, we continued reading through Enid Blyton's enchanting tale, 'The Magic Faraway Tree'. This week we focused our learning on the Land of Goodies! We started the week by creating our own Land of Goodies to aid our description writing using adjectives and expanded noun phrases. Later in the week, we learnt a new skill of personification to describe. Year 3 absolutely blew us away with their phenomenal personification sentences! We then used this new skill in our showpiece writing to create a setting description of a brand-new land.

Next week we will be focusing on compound and complex sentences.

Thematic

In Thematic this week, we have continued studying the Romans, moving onto the History element of our Thematic unit. This week we learnt why the Romans built Hadrian's Wall as a form of protection for their Empire, how Romans have impacted our life today and about the Celtic Queen Boudicca who led a rebellion against the Romans. Next week we will be learning how the Romans have impacted Britain considering our prior learning of cities, counties and beliefs  which links to our visit to the Roman museum in Canterbury on Tuesday!

Love to Learn

For this week's Love to Learn task, please could children research further into Queen Boudica and her rebellion against the Romans. As always, this research can be presented in a creative way of your choice!
