Read, Write Inc.
This week in Read, Write Inc. We have met our new RWI teachers. We have been reviewing our sounds and working so hard phonetically reading words. In particular, we have been looking for special friends in our words, saying the sounds and reading the word. Any practise at home reading a word by finding the special friends, saying the sounds and reading the word would be greatly appreciated! We have also been working hard on our handwriting and writing sentences with capital letters and full stops.
Thematic
On Wednesday, we looked at a range of maps, plans and globes. These included floor plans, globes, bus and train maps, street maps, atlases, plans of the school and used Google Earth. We spoke about what they were like, how they were similar and how they were different. We even looked at our school and close landmarks too and plotted them on a map!
On Thursday, we worked as a class to create a floor plan of our classroom. We then went out into the garden area with our white boards, making a birds eye view map of the classroom, conservatory and the garden.
Today we completed our end of unit quiz we recapped all our wonderful learning from My Home, My Town.
Next week we will have RE in the afternoons. We will be learning about what makes our world special and explore the Jewish, Islamic and Christian creation stories.
