- A reminder that there is a non-uniform day next Friday for Comic Relief (Do something Funny for money)

- A message from Mrs Law:

Easter will soon be here and we will be holding our traditional Easter egg hunts and bonnet parade in school. Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are invited to make an Easter bonnet or hat if they would like to and bring it in to school on the final day of term (Friday 31st March). We will hold a parade in the hall for parents to come along to at 10:00 and prizes will be awarded for the most impressive creations.

For children in Years 3 – 6, they are also invited to enter the Key Stage Two bonnet / hat competition. This will be judged in year groups with prizes awarded.

This week, the children have been learning about the 4 operations (multiplication, division, addition and subtraction).  In particular, they have learnt the importance of showing their working out when solving word problems and identifying what the calculation actually should be.

Next week, the children will be learning how to solve algebraic calculations and understanding BIDMAS.

In our text Kensuke's Kingdom, Michael has fallen overboard!  We predicted what we thought will happen afterwards and considered writing a new chapter that included mum and dad's reaction to wake up to find Michael missing from the boat.  We used characterisation through action and speech to move the narrative on.

Next week, we will be writing a setting description of Kensuke's island, using expanded noun phrases and figurative language to engage the audience.

In 'That's Shocking!', the children explored series circuits and investigated the difference in brightness of the bulb(s) compared with when the bulbs were wired up in a parallel circuit.  We created a graph of our results and concluded our experiment by suggesting anomalies in our results.

Next week, the children will be carrying out a fait test investigation, exploring which materials are good conductors and which are better insulators.
