One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly learning 04.11.22

Messages

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend parent teacher consultations this week.  If you have been unable to, please speak with your child's teacher and they will be happy to make a new appointment.

A reminder that on Tuesday 8th November, we will be studying the heart by looking (and touching) lambs' hearts.  If your child will feel more comfortable not partaking in this activity, we are happy to provide alternative learning for that one session.

As the weather begins to worsen, please remind your child to wear a coat to school as well as (old) trainers that they can wear at break time.

If you have any empty egg boxes, please could you bring them in (it will help with our maths learning).  Thank you in advance.

This week, the children have been learning how to divide using a formal method (bus stop).  They have learned appropriate mathematical vocabulary that links with division:

Dividend - the big number that will be divided

Divisor - the number you're dividing by

Quotient - the answer to a division calculation

Next week, we will be continuing to practise our skills with division before moving on to dividing by two-digit numbers.

In English this week, the children began their new text, Skellig, which is a wonderful text.  They wrote a setting description of a dilapidated garage and attempted some clever artwork that showed the inside of it.  Next week, we will be creating a character description of Skellig.

As part of our topic, Inside Out, the children created their own exercise routine and drew the heart after discussing its importance.  Click the QR code to view one of our exercise routines... check your heart rate before and after!  Why does your hear rate increase?

For Love to Learn this week, we would like the children to log on to MyOn as there is a reading activity we would like them to complete by next Thursday.
