Year 3 have had a fantastic week this week. We were so proud of the children for showing the Chilton Way on Sports Day!

 

English

This week, we have finished writing our non-chronological reports on rainforests. We then improved these with our partners, challenging our vocabulary and sentence structure. Finally, we published these with all of our improvements. We are so proud of the children for their writing this year!

 

Maths

In maths, we have been learning about statistics. We began the week by plotting data onto a bar chart, before classifying numbers, shapes and items. We learnt how to use Venn and Carrol diagrams accurately to do this.

 

RE

In our afternoon lessons, we have been learning about Islam. We learnt about the 5 pillars of Islam and their significance to Muslims. We learnt about the Hajj and why Muslims go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. Finally, we learnt about ceremonies such as naming and wedding ceremonies.

 

Love to Learn

This week, we would really like the children to relax and have fun ahead of meeting their new teacher next week. Mrs Cousins and Mr Oxley have loved seeing the fact files coming in this week, so please use this weekend to complete these if you haven’t already.

 

Important Dates

15th July – Transition Day.

Please drop children to their Year 3 classes and collect from the KS2 playground as normal.

16^th July – Transition Day

Please drop children to their new Year 4 classes and collect from the KS2 playground as normal.

17^th July – Transition Day

Please drop children to their new Year 4 classes and collect from the KS2 playground as normal.

18^th July – Inflatable Fun Day

Back to usual classrooms. It is inflatable fun day, so children are invited to wear their own clothes on this day.

19^th July – Last Day of Term

School will finish at 2pm for all children.
