We have a had a lovely last week of term with the Viking Games and our parade. Thank you for all support with the parade.
English
In English this week we have finished writing our non-chronological reports on spiders. We were so impressed with the children’s beautiful presentation and hard work on these. We also finished reading ‘Charlotte’s Web’ and completed the AR quiz on this.
Next term we will be reading ‘Edward Tulane’. We will begin the term by writing diaries and letters from the viewpoint of the characters.
Maths
This week, we have been revising our knowledge of telling the time. We were so impressed with the children’s understanding and ability to tell the time to 5-minute intervals. On Friday, we consolidated our learning for the whole term by completing different activities with our partners on telling the time, adding and subtracting using the column method, solving problems involving fractions and recognising the value of digits in a number.
Next term, we will begin our measurement learning by looking at volume and capacity.
Afternoon Learning
We finished our Art learning this week by creating a final piece. We used the painting skills we have learnt this term to recreate Van Gogh’s ‘The Starry Night’.
On Wednesday, we also learnt about the Bible as part of our RE unit. We looked at the importance of the Bible to Christians and why Christians use it. We also talked about our special books and why they are special to us.
Home Learning
For Home Learning this week, we would like children to relax and spend time with their families and friends. However, we would still encourage children to read regularly and use TTRS to practise their times tables.
Olympian Visit
We are incredibly excited to announce that on the 6th of June we have Olympic gymnast Danny Crouch visiting Chilton, to deliver a class assembly with a Q & A session and a short fitness session. Every child has received a sponsorship form this week to complete and fill in to try and raise as much money as possible for Danny to help him with his career. There will be prizes for the most amount raised! If you would like any extra information about Danny, his crowdfunding page is linked below.
