Welcome back to a very wet Term 2. We hope you had a great half-term break. This is what we have been learning this week:

English

We spent a week on a fun story called 'How to wash a Woolly Mammoth'. We spent the week writing amazing instructions. We learnt how to use imperative 'bossy' verbs, time openers and coordinating conjunctions.  We ended the week putting our skills into practice and making jam sandwiches. We could only follow the instructions we had written, so if they were wrong...we had to go back and change them!

Maths

This week we began learning about fractions. We have been learning about unit and non-unit fractions. We learnt how to find fractions of shapes and amounts. Have a try at the challenges below:

Topic

This week we began our new topic - 'Stone Age to Iron Age'. Our hook was lots of fun - we made Stonehenge out of biscuits! We then tried to understand the concept of pre-history. This is very difficult! It is such a long time ago. We will be spending lots of time zooming in and out of timelines to help our understanding. Today we learnt about Lucy - the first human! She was found in Ethiopia and was only 1.1m tall! Next week we will learn what life was like in the Stone Age.

We have sent home your TTRS data. Please play this as much as possible over the next week. We would love to see your heatmaps start to change colour. 
We also would like you to read as much as possible. Remember that MyOn has so many options and will also read the book aloud to you. This site then automatically takes you to the AR quiz. 

We have set a MyMaths activity recapping fractions from this week and in Year 2.

- Non-uniform day for Blue Vikings on Monday

- Sports project day has moved to Tuesdays

-Spelling groups have been ammended. We start our new groups on Monday so there are no spellings to practise this week.
