Weekly News! 12.07.24
What a super week in Year 2! Take a look at what we have been getting up to 😊
Sports Day
We would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting the children during sports day, they had so much fun! Take a look at some of the highlights….
English
At the beginning of the week we went to the forest school and made worm burgers! On Tuesday we used persuasive writing so you could not resist our delicious, mouth-watering burgers!
For our showpiece, we wrote a recipe for our worm burger using imperative verbs. Take a look at the method for our gruesome burgers!
First, dig the juicy worms up from the muddy field using a sturdy spade. Then pick 4 mint leaves from the freshest plant. Gather the pine cones from the forest floor. Collect the muddiest mud from the edge of the field.
Mix the worms and mud together using a slow mixing motion. Next, chop the mint leaves. Sprinkle the leaves into the mixture. Cut the pine cones into fine sections and add. Scoop out a handful of mixture at a time and form a small ball. Squash the ball into a burger shape. Serve raw for best results.
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been focusing on problem solving using a bar model. The children have really enjoyed this weeks maths learning and using all the skills they have learnt to help them to problem solve this week.
RE
In R.E this week we looked at what do Sikhs believe and found out why Sikhs meditate. The children thought about a calm quiet place that they were able to do their best thinking. We then thought about where we may find it tricky to do our best thinking.
Reminder: Please drop the children off in the morning in their usual classrooms. At the end of the day you will collect the children from the top field.
