Weekly news! 5.7.24
What a super week in Year 2! Take a look at what we have been getting up to 😊
Last week, as individual classes, we worked together to come up with some questions for our new class teachers. We wanted to find out some more information about them and our new year group to help us get ready for our transition days. Team Aqua were very excited to receive a video message back from their new teacher answering everything we wanted to know. Please see below the video from Miss Vaughan to Team Aqua :) Team Topaz had a face to face question time with Miss Davey.
Guided Reading
This week in Guided Reading, we have been reading the story, Magic Finger. We have been focusing on the reading skills of fluency and accuracy. We have been focusing on sequencing the narrative by storyboarding and working with key phrases and parts.
English
In English this week, we have been focusing on using a range of punctuation when writing a narrative. We have been looking at commas in lists, full stops, exclamation marks, question marks and inverted commas.
For our showpiece, we wrote a narrative which was in the theme of the Magic Finger. We are so proud of the writing Year 2 have achieved this week!

Thematic
In Thematic this week, we have been geographers! We have linked our maths learning into geography this week by thinking about directions. We celebrated the end of our Wonderful World unit by creating a map with our learning partner. We had to ensure it was a map which was a birds eye view, it needed a compass, symbols and a key to explain the symbols. Take a look at how we got on 😊
