Weekly News! w/b 17.4.23
What a wonderful first week back after Easter we have had!
Read, Write Inc
We have been working incredibly hard in our new groups this week. We have been really focussing on making sure we find the special friends first, before reading the word! After we have found the special friend we fred talk the word and the say it. For example…

S.N.AI.L
SNAIL
Some of you may have seen comments in your child’s reading record about re-reading their reading books. We are encouraging this to help support their fluency and confidence.
In each reading folder, there is a sound card and list of red words. Any practise with these at home would be extremely helpful and support your child’s reading and writing at home.
Every morning can all children place their reading folders inside their house trays in the conservatory please :) This helps us keep track of their reading and how many books they have read. Thank you.
Maths
This week in maths we have been looking at shape! We recapped our knowledge of 2D shapes, by playing games and answering some tricky questions! We then moved on to 3D shapes, we looked at their names, how many vertices they have, how many sides and also how many faces! We worked so hard this week and have loved this fun week, based all around shape! Next week we will be looking at telling the time.
RE
This week in RE we have been looking at Hinduism. At the beginning of the week we looked at what Hindu’s believe in and what special occasions they have in a Hindu childhood. Towards the end of the week we looked at Divali and focussed on Rangoli patterns! Take a look, they were beautiful! We looked at how Hindu’s celebrate weddings and looked at their wonderful festivals!
