One Childhood, One Chance

Chilton Join World’s Biggest Youth Choir

Singers from Chilton Primary School’s choir have joined in song with 8,000 other young people from around the UK at London’s 02 Arena.

The group from Year 3 to Year 6 became part of the world’s biggest choir when they took part in the annual Young Voice extravaganza at the famous venue.

They have been learning the songs since the beginning of February and were lucky enough to be placed in a special box at the venue, giving them a great view of the stage and plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the annual event.

They learned songs from a variety of themes, including an 80th birthday celebration of reggae pioneer Bob Marley, songs about love and a range of 1980s classics.

Deputy Head of School Hannah Cheshire said: “The staff and children had the most amazing experience. Many parents also went along to watch and commented on what an amazing event this was.

“Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed being part of a huge spectacle with thousands of other young children, raising their voices in song and celebration.

“Chilton has been involved in a number of the Young Voice shows and it helps reinforce the love of song and music that we share as part of our school community every day.

“The 02 concert is something they will talk about for weeks and weeks; it is a certainly part of their Chilton learning experience they will never forget.”

Chilton Primary is part of the Viking Academy Trust with partner schools Ramsgate Arts Primary and Upton Junior.
