Superfun for Little Superheroes
A Chilton superhero
If you could be a superhero what would your skill be?
That is the task that challenged little ones in the Reception group at Chilton Primary School in Ramsgate.
They put their thinking caps on and came up with a range of helpful superpower ideas and a superhero name – and came to school dressed in their special colourful costumes.
These included Rainbow Sparkle, whose magic dust could spread kindness; Mr Freeze, whose could shoot icicles to freeze the bad guys; and Super Dog Mum, who could take care of all the animals in the world.
The event launched a topic that will investigate the theme through texts including Elliot Jones Midnight Superhero, Supertato and Captain Underpants.
They will also be making their own vegetable super villains, like in the Supertato storybook, and creating their own traps to catch the Evil Pea who has been set loose around Chilton.
The children will be making up their own superhero adventures, creating superhero hideouts and learning all about real life superheroes.
Deputy Head of School Hannah Cheshire said: “There were an array of fantastic costumes on display and the children enjoyed discussing their superpowers with each other and posing for their superhero pictures.
“The topic is really capturing their imaginations. It really engages the children and leads to a huge amount of creative play opportunities. It also supports their storytelling and their understanding of how to create an engaging story.”
