Friday 9th May

Message for year 6 parents - Year 6 have been invited to the Science Jamboree at Discovery Park on Thursday 12th June, to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The Science Jamboree is a celebration event bringing together STEM organisations to provide hands-on workshops across the event to spark a love of STEM to the next generation.

The children will need a packed lunch as we will be leaving school at 11:30am. We will return at 3:30pm.

Children will come home today with a photography permission form for the Jamboree. Please can these be completed and returned to the school office as soon as possible.

Message for year 6 parents - Dear Year 6 families, our Year 6 SATS tests will start at 9am daily next week.  Please can we ask that all Year 6 children arrive at 8am so that the can settle into class ready for their day and have breakfast (if they wish). We look forward to seeing the children at 8am Monday morning.

Message for year 2 parents - I am excited to share that, as part of our final thematic topic, 'Wonderful World', we have arranged a fantastic trip for Year 2 to Wildwood in Canterbury! This visit is scheduled for 10th June, and we would love your support in making this experience memorable for our children.

Wildwood is a renowned animal conservation charity dedicated to helping local wildlife and educating the public about the importance of preserving natural habitats. During our visit, the children will participate in a special habitats workshop, perfectly aligned with our Term 6 topic. They will explore various habitats, including forests, deserts, grasslands, and caverns, and learn how animals adapt to survive in these environments.

The workshop will provide hands-on experiences, where our students will engage in roleplay to understand which animals inhabit specific habitats and why they are perfectly suited to their surroundings. In addition, they will have the opportunity to put on their detective hats and match real animal artefacts with their authentic habitats, allowing for an intriguing exploration of animal adaptations.

To ensure that all children can participate, we kindly ask for a contribution of £16.95 to cover the costs of the trip.  As part of our safety measures, we will require parent volunteers to accompany us on this exciting day. If you are available and willing to join us, please let us know.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your continued support. We’re looking forward to an enriching and enjoyable trip!

Message for year 1 parents - Next week, we will be looking at the toys which people played with in the past. The love to learn task for this week will be to speak to grandparents or a person of a similar age and find out what toys they played with when they were 5 or 6 years old. Please could you help your child to find a photo of this toy on the internet (or even a photo of the person playing with the toy!) and email it to Miss Hall or Mrs Cotton by Wednesday 7th May with a brief description of what it is and how it was used. We will use these in our learning next week. Many thanks!

Tuesday 29th April

Message for Reception parents -  Dear Reception parents,

We would like to start a new reading initiative in Reception, in order to further increase the children's excitement and enthusiasm around reading. Each Friday, we would love to have a 'Surprise Reader' come and read the Reception children their end of day story. We would like to invite any parents/grandparents who are happy to come and read their child's class an end of day story to sign up to be a 'Surprise Reader'. There will be a list of dates in the school office, starting from Friday 9th May to the end of the school year, for you to sign up to. If you sign up, we ask you come to the school office at 2.55pm that day and we will take you to your child's class to reveal the big surprise (we ask you don't tell your child you're coming). You can bring a story of your own or bring one from home. We cannot wait to see their faces. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Best wishes, Mrs Cheshire
