Weekly News 01.02.19
This week, the children have thoroughly enjoyed developing their campaigning to raise awareness of the need for education for all, particularly focussing of equality. After writing their speeches, making their badges and building their cause, they have taken their campaign to many classes across the school, sharing their work. As a result, Year 6 has raised money for the Malala Fund. We would like to thank everyone who donated or supported us.
In maths, we found angles in triangles and circles from given information and are beginning to know the properties of a range of 2D and 3D shapes.
The children are already loving our new text, 'Skellig'. They wrote wonderful setting descriptions that included suspense. They were a thrilling read and we can't wait to read more of the book.
In topic this week, we have begun to understand how sound waves travel and we have created fun ways to show this. Year 6 Love to Learn this week is to research how deaf people adapt to a world with sound. What do they use to assist them with everyday tasks that those who can hear may take for granted (for example, how do their alarm clocks work?)?
