Well done Year 5 for a fantastic last week of term! We hope that you enjoyed the Christmas videos that were sent home this week! Here is what we have been up to:
English:
This week we finished our class book 'The Jamie Drake Equation' and summarised the story. We also finished our narratives from last week, focussing on using conjunctions to move action on within our stories.
When we come back after the Christmas holidays, we will be studying 'The Piano', focussing on using emotive language in our writing.
Maths:
In maths we began to analyse data from line graphs. The children have become increasingly confident in reading data from line graphs, and even moved on to solve problems involving these. We then moved our learning on by gathering our own sets of data and plotting these on line graphs, remembering key features such as labelling both axis and a title.
Topic:
To finish off our Stargazers topic, this week we have been learning about the phases of the moon and constellations. We had lots of fun representing the phases of the moon in oreos and then creating our own constellations out of spaghetti and marshmellows.
Home Learning:
This week's Love to Learn task is to have a fantastic Christmas and watch a festive movie!
Important Information:
- The first day of term 3 is Wednesday 5th January
- There will be no PE on the first day back
We hope that you have a fantastic Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
