Weekly News 14.02.25!

What a brilliant final week for Term 3 it has been! This week, we have focussed on our RE learning as well as celebrating Online Safety Day! We took part in a brilliant day focussed on the dangers of using the internet and how we can be sharp and keep ourselves safe online. We took part in a Live Interland assembly, created informative posters and explored terminology such as phishing and secure. We hope you have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you in Term 4!
A note from Miss Vaughan-
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the wonderful children and parents who have made me feel so welcome at Chilton. My time here may have been short, but it has been immensely rewarding, and I have so enjoyed having the opportunity to teach your fabulous children. I know each and every child will continue to progress and succeed and I wish you all, all the best for the future.
Kind regards,
Miss Vaughan
Guided Reading
In Guided Reading, we continued our learning on Anthony Browne’s texts by continuing with ‘Gorilla’. To begin our week, we carefully sequenced the story, summarising each part. Following this, we completed our AR quiz, demonstrating our knowledge of the text. To end the week, we took part in quiz teams to answer comprehension questions on a non-fiction text on gorillas.
English
In English, we continued our learning on Anthony Browne’s texts by continuing with Gorilla. This week we have continued to develop our letter writing skills, focussing carefully on the difference between formal and informal writing. We have been very careful to ensure that our layouts were suitable to a letter format and used specific technical language.
Maths
In Maths this week we have returned to our learning on subtraction. We used our growing knowledge of column method to help us solve increasingly more complex subtraction problems and used relevant maths resources such as dienes and place value counters to support in regrouping through subtraction.
RE
This week we have been focusing on our RE learning, specifically focussing on what we know about Jesus. We considered how Jesus is represented in pictures and how this can be perceived differently depending on where in the world you come from. Following this, we explored quotes taken from the bible and how they symbolised different aspects of Jesus’ personality. To end, we listened to a variety of biblical proverbs and discussed what we can learn about Jesus from them.
Home Learning
Please take the half-term to spend time together as a family and rest. Using TTRS and reading (either your class book or through Myon) is plenty of Home Learning for this week. Enjoy, have fun and we will see you next term!
