Weekly News! 20.10.23
Year 5 have had a wonderful term, well done everyone!!
English
This week, we continued gathering evidence about Sir Ernest Shackleton to decide if he was guilty or not. Throughout the week, we reconvened in court to discuss how we were going to write a balanced argument written from Shackleton’s point of view. We used a range of conjunctions to evidence why he was a good or bad leader. We finished the week by listening to a variety of pieces of writing from the past two weeks to celebrate the children’s work.
Maths
In maths this week, we have been focusing on converting time. We began the week by converting between seconds, minutes and hours. Moving on to converting between days, months and years.
RE
Throughout RE this week, we have been learning about where the Christian bible came from. We were learning to ask questions about the bible, use ancient languages to convert part 1 and 2 of the Old Testament and we finished the week by looking at the features and characters that are in the Christian bible.
Home Learning
We would like to give you the week to relax and rewind so there will be no home learning over the half-term.
