Year 4 Weekly News 28.4.23
Maths
In maths this week, we have been continuing our learning on decimals. We have been adding and subtraction decimals using the column method and the bar model. We also looked at adding and subtracting decimals through one and two-step word problems.
Next week, we are covering factors and multiplication. We will still look at decimals but looking at multiplying decimals using the column method.
English
In English, we started our new story called ‘The Curing Fox. Throughout the story, we meet a young girl and fox who are very ill. A character called Old Duck Egg ends up finding both of the characters and curing them together. We re told the story but in the form of a play script. Using feature such as, main title, cast list, scene subtitles and stage directions. Next week, we are going to read another story from ‘The Tales of Wisdom and Wonder and we are going to focus on poetry.
Topic
We continued our new theme called 'What's it made of?'. We began the week by looking how at how materials change state when they are cooled or heated. We then completed our own investigation to see what temperature it took for butter to melt. We then moved onto the water cycle. Looking at all the components of the water cycle and how it works.
