Love to Learn

On Tuesday, the children created a report about how different animals environment are being destroyed by natural and human impacts. We would like the children to create a poster about what humans can do to save these environments.

This Week:

In maths this week, the children have been looking at how to derive facts from number sentences that they already know. For example, if the they know 4 X 5, they also know 40 X 5 or 4 X 50. We looked at making the number 10 times bigger and 10 times smaller. We also looked at multiplying 3 numbers together and understanding that multiplication is commutative and whatever way you multiple the numbers, the answer will always be the same. We finished the week by doubling and halving.

In English, the children began reading their new book called Fly, Eagle, Fly. As there is lots of dialogue in the book, we wrote the conversations that they have been having. For example, the farmer brings an eagle home believing it is a chicken. The children wrote the conversations the farmer would have with his family and his friends. We concentrated on inverted commas, punctuation and reporting clauses.

In Topic this week, the children looked at the different habitats and environments that animals live and how they can be affected. Firstly, we looked the natural causes that can affect the environments such as natural disasters. We then moved onto human causes, we looked at littering, deforestation and urbanisation.

Next week

In maths, the children will be revising time. Looking at analogue, digital, 12 hours and 24 hours clocks, finishing the week with time durations.

In English, we will continue to look at dialogue and move onto setting descriptions.
