Weekly News 29.4.22
This week has been another fantastic week for the children who have tried their best and worked incredibly hard!
English
This week we have continued our book called ‘Wizards of Once’. We really concentrated on chapter four. In the chapter, Xar the wizard and Wish the Warrior meet each other as Xar catches Wish in his net thinking he has caught a witch. Throughout the week, we focused on writing diary entries, we first wrote one about ourselves and then planned and wrote one being Xar or Wish. The children really enjoyed it and seemed to be wonderfully engaged posing as one of the characters.
Next week, we will be looking at non-chronological reports.
Maths
This week we have continued to look at place value. However, we were looking at place value in decimals. We began the week by rounding decimals numbers with one place after the decimal point, we then moved onto adding and subtracting decimals. This was tricky to begin with but with some incredible courage and perseverance we did really well!
Next week, we are looking at factors of numbers and also multiplying decimals as well.
RE
Throughout RE this week, we have been looking at Buddhism and the different festivals that Buddhists celebrate. We began the week by looking at a festival called Vesak and moved onto the ploughing festival. We came up with some amazing role play and we loved acting out the stories of Siddhartha.
Love to Learn
This week is all about practice! Everyone now has a set of their own spellings to focus on so can we please practice as much as possible! Also, we are still continuing to prepare for The Multiplication check so the more times table work the better!
As the weather is getting warmer, can we please remind everyone to bring in water bottles. We have the windows and doors open as much as possible but it will continue to be warm in classrooms.
Thank you and have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
