Weekly Blog Post: 25.2.22
We have had a wonderful start to term 4. The children have come back to school showing great involvement and enthusiasm, working very hard from day one. Well done Year 3!
English
This week we have started our new book 'Charlotte's Web'. We have read the first 3 chapters and used the story to write diary entries from the point of view of the characters. We have shown the emotions Fern feels when her dad is ready to kill the runt of a litter of pigs. We then wrote the opposing view of her father. Next week we will be continuing to write diary entries to express the opinions and emotions of the characters in the book.
Maths
In maths this week we looked at statistics. We used bar graphs and pictograms to find out information from the data presented. We were able to answer 1 step and 2 step questions about the data and we were even able to ask our own questions. Next week we will be looking at money, focusing on adding money and finding change.
Topic
We have been feeling the force this week in Topic! For out entry point to our new topic we participated in Jedi training whilst dressed as our favourite characters from Star Wars. Next, we used friction and gravity to create artwork from paint and marbles. Finally, this week we focused on friction and predicted whether surfaces would cause a lot of friction or a small amount of friction when pushing a toy car down it.
Love To Learn
English Task: Write a diary entry about something you have done over the weekend. Use emotive language to express your feelings and sentence openers to add more information to the sentences.
Maths Task: Create a bar graph on one of the following topics - Colours of cars on your road, Colours of packets in your cupboard, types of flowers in a park, types of shells on a beach - or you can think of your own. Then write questions about your bar graph.
