Weekly News! 13.10.2023
We have had another fab week in Year 3, let’s have a look at what we have been up to!
English
In English this week we have been continuing our learning based on our class text ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’. This week we have focused on retelling the story using ambitious adjectives (describing words) and fronted adverbials. Fronted adverbials are placed at the beginning of the sentence to add detail about where or when something is happening. For example, At the top of the mountain, Lila’s eyes filled with sadness as it was still not raining.
Maths
Our Maths learning this week has focused on learning to tell the time using both analogue and digital clocks. The children have put in so much effort into their maths learning this week as both classes have found it quite tricky. To help their maths learning, it would be great if the children could have a look around the home for analogue and digital clocks.
Next week we will be continuing our learning on time and recapping our learning from the rest of the term.
Thematic curriculum
This week in Thematic, we have finished our Stone Age to Iron Age learning. We summarised our thematic learning by making fossils and completing our end of unit quiz, which the children did really well on. In Art, we designed our clay beaker, using all our art knowledge from this term and the techniques we will use. We will use this plan next week when we make our clay beakers.
Love to Learn
Please make a piece or artwork relating to our Stone Age to Iron Age topic. This can be about any aspect of our learning this term and can be presented in any way you like.

Dates to remember
Non-School Uniform Day: Friday 20th October
One of our parents at Chilton, is completing a Sky Dive in order to raise money for the charity SANDS, who support anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby or child. We would like to support in any way we can, so we ask that all children come to school in non-school uniform on Friday 20th October. In return, if you are able and wish to, we ask that to donate as little or as much as you wish to the just giving page below:
