Weekly News - 9.9.22
What a wonderful week back we have had with the children so eager to learn. Read on to find out what we have been up to!
English
We have begun our book, 'The Green Ship'. This week we predicted what our story would be about. We met our main characters and wrote descriptions of Mrs Tredegar. This week we have been using expanded noun phrases to describe her appearance, and verbs and adverbs to show her personality. We have been making sure we are using our full stops and capital letters and have practised this in our grammar lessons.
Next week we will be describing settings using vivid vocabulary. Our characters go off on adventures to different places.
We will also begin our spelling groups in the afternoons.
Maths
This week we have been learning about place value. We have represented our numbers with different resources and have a good understanding of the value of each digit. We are able to partition our numbers and we ended the week adding 1, 10 and 100 using jottings. Next week we will be moving on to addition.
PSHE
This week we have been learning about our school motto - One Childhood, One Chance. We have been making sure we know how to follow the school rules and why we do so. We know our school values, and we are working as a team to make sure we spot each other using them! We ended the week with a wonderful story, 'Have you filled a bucket?'. We are going to try to be secret bucket fillers, making everyone feel good.
