Year 3 Weekly News 21.10.22
What a fantastic end to Term 1 in Year 3! Thank you to everyone that came to our Roman celebration. We hope you enjoyed our song, and hope you left knowing something new about Roman life! We have been so impressed with how much the children remember. We also want to say a big thank you for all your Harvest donations. It was absolutely wonderful having a Harvest celebration again - we love having families in to celebrate with us!
English
This week we finished our story retelling of 'The Princess and the White Bear King'. We have been developing some fantastic writing skills, including fronted adverbials, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions and time phrases. We must make sure we continue to sound out our words when spelling and learn our common exception words. (Attached at the bottom of the blog)
Next term, we start with a book called 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth' as we begin our new topic, Stone Age to Iron Age.
Maths
This week in Maths we have been learning about time. We have been learning to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes, and learning to tell the time using past and to. We also looked at the difference between analogue and digital. Talk to us about the time at home as much as possible! Here is a link to a fun game that you can play at home:

Topic
We finished our Revolutionary Romans topic with a fantastic celebration of learning. We loved having you look at our learning. We completed our end of unit quiz to show how much we have learnt.
RE
This week we learnt about signs and symbols in religion, looking at stories, festivals and events in many religions. We realised the importance of symbols as messages and learnt about significant signs and symbols for different religions.
Messages
Children need to be bringing in their reading record books daily and reading at least 3 times a week. A big thank you to those completing quizzes at home. Children can also take their quizzes in the morning before registration.
Home learning
We will not be setting a Love to Learn this week. Instead, we have attached spelling words for the children to practise. We hope you have a lovely break.
