Science at Chilton
We encourage children to be inquisitive throughout their learning and in science, we continue to develop their enjoyment and interest in the subject and an appreciation of its contribution to all aspects of everyday life. We aim to build on children's curiosity and sense of awe of the natural world through hands-on learning in our local environment. Through the teaching of our thematic curriculum, the children experience a range of investigations and practical activities to give them a greater understanding of the concepts and knowledge of science, whilst being able to approach scientific enquiries by thinking like a scientist. We introduce children to the language and vocabulary of science so that they effectively communicate their scientific ideas. The effective and appropriate use of scientific equipment is a vital part of learning at Chilton. Through science, children will discover the links between the subject and other areas of the curriculum and make use of these to deepen their understanding of the amazing world around them.
