Year 4 Weekly News - 1/7/22
We want to start this week's blog with a huge well done to all the children that took part in the Music Celebration Evening. It was so wonderful seeing the children beaming with confidence. We had so many of our Year group take part, whether in the choir, on the guitar or as part of the xylophone ensemble. Well done - you showed such courage and are very talented!
Maths
This week we have been looking at properties of shape, identifying their features using the following vocabulary:
- Parallel/perpendicular liines
- Acute, obtuse and right angles
- regular/irregular
- Lines of symmetry
- vertices/vertex
They then looked at patterns in symmetry, solving complex problems.
NEXT WEEK: We will be collecting data using Venn and Carroll diagrams.
English
This week we have learnt how to write outside inside sentences to show contrasting feelings and emotions. We also used a range of contrasting conjunctions and made sure we used a variety of sentence types when expressing emotions. We got to a very sad part in our story and we spoke and wrote with such maturity. Next week we will finish the story, and will begin to write a biography for Edward Tulane.
PSHE - Healthy relationships
We talked about the impact of unkind words - how we can apologise but they cannot be taken back. The children were again, incredibly mature in their discussions and shared their feelings and experiences honestly and thoughtfully. We then looked into our zones of regulation in great detail, thinking about how our zones impact other people. Finally, we looked at how people viewed us on the outside compared to how we feel about ourselves on the inside.
