Weekly Blog Post - 04/12/20
English
This week in English we have been writing descriptions of characters in our new book: Gorilla. We have learnt to describe the appearance, thoughts and feelings, personality and actions of a character. To do this we have been using adverbs, expanded noun phrases and powerful emotive language.
Maths
In maths, we have been learning how to measure capacity and volume. We have learnt that volume is the amount of liquid in a container and that capacity is the maximum amount of liquid that the container could hold. To measure them, we have been reading scales in millilitres and litres. We know that a litre is equal to one thousand litres and that five hundred millilitres is equal to half a litre.
Topic
For topic, we have been learning about our skeleton and it's purpose, as well as our muscles and how they are controlled by our brains. We know that our brain sends signals through our nervous system that tells our muscles to move and that these signals are sent very quickly.
Home learning
This weekend we would like you to follow this link https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/capacity/index.html and complete the capacity and volume games. If you would like to, you can also look around your house and see if you can find any capacities and volumes. What is the greatest capacity you can find and what is the least?
Food Bank Donations
Thank you to everyone that has donated food towards our food bank donations. For every donation we receive your child will be given a chance to win either Officer Rainbow or Mr Chilton! Our food bank donation closes on Wednesday.
Christmas Parties
Year 3's Christmas party will be on Thursday 10th December. As this is our PE day, we ask all children to arrive in their PE kits and bring their party clothes in a separate bag. PE will be taking place in the morning, then the children will change into their party clothes ready for the afternoon. Children are invited to bring in their own party food that they cannot share with others.
Last Week of School
For the week beginning 14th December, Mrs Gale will be teaching Team Ocean and Miss Howell will continue to teach Team Sky at school. Mr Mason will be teaching online to both classes of the children that will not be attending school for that week. You will need to have your TEAMS access information to access Mr Mason’s lessons. These times and details have been sent to the families that are staying home to learn as each class has a different time. If you have not received this information, please contact the school office.
