It’s the end of another fun-filled week in Year 1. This is what we have been learning about…

Read, Write Inc.

In Read Write Inc we continue to practice reading books, green, red and alien words. We are trying to increase our writing stamina before we transition to Year Two in September! Please encourage writing at home when opportunities arise e.g. birthday cards, postcards and during role play.

Maths

This week we have been learning about statistics. We have interpreted and gathered data in a tally chart and created bar charts.

Religious Education

In RE we have been learning about the Islamic New Year, the Day of Ashura and we found out about Mawlid al-Nabi, Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

We have had so much fun this week at sports day. Well done to everybody for a great effort and for showing our Chilton values.

We’ve also enjoyed our inflatable fun day on Friday morning. We absolutely loved the bouncy castle.

Next week

Next week is very exciting. You will be heading off to your new classrooms to meet your new teachers! Transition days will be Monday 18^th July – Wednesday 20th July. PLEASE COME TO YOUR YEAR ONE CLASSROOM ON MONDAY TO BE REGISTERED. We will then move our lockers and belongings to Year Two. Then we will go to a whole school assembly from which we be sent to our new

 classrooms. After this you will pick up and drop off from your new Year Two classroom until Thursday (the last day.) We will be back in our Year One classrooms to say goodbye on the Final day of term (Thursday 21^st July). Please collect your child at 2pm on the last day of term.

Love 2 Learn

Goodbye Year One poster.

Please create a poster in your Love to Learn book (or on plain paper) to say goodbye to year one. You could draw all of your favourite things about year one and decorate it beautifully. On your poster you could write about the things you have learnt, the friends you have made and your favourite memories.

 

Reminders…

• Tuesday – 30 minutes of extra PE (wear uniform with trainers)
• PE is on Wednesdays. Please remember to wear PE kit and tie hair back.

 

• Transition days – Monday 18^th – Wednesday 20^th July
• End of Term – 2.00 collection on Thursday 21^st July.
