Week beginning 10th February
Final week of term 3
Children have had a fantastic term 3! We have been amazed by the children's commitment to their learning and want to thank you for your continued support at home.
In maths this week, we have been problem solving. This has included reading word problems and deciding which operation needed depending on the vocabulary used, for example adding when we see 'how many altogether?'. Towards the end of the week, we have been approaching our maths lessons slightly differently. We have been solving problems where there is more than one answer so we had to show determination and perseverance to find all possibilities. We were really impressed with how well the children used their previous knowledge to solve the problems.
When we return from the half term break, we will be focussing on positional language.
In topic this week we have had a history focus. We looked at people from the past who contributed to the development of medicines. We learnt how to ask and answer questions about people using a variety of sources to research. Ask your children about what they have learnt about Mary Seacole and Alexander Flemming.
Your Love to Learn task from last week, was to to get your child to help weigh out some ingredients when you're cooking dinner/baking a cake. Show them how to use the scales and words such as heavy and light. This will be due in on Wednesday 26th February. We would also like your child to continue with their reading during the half term break.
