Maths
This week in Maths we have been exploring subtraction. We have been telling number stories involving taking away objects. We have also been using the tens frames to subtract (e.g. with 16-4, the children have learned to put 16 cubes on the tens frames, take 4 away and then count to see how many are left). Next week the children will be using the part-part-whole model to subtract and also use number lines to develop the skill of subtracting further.
Topic
In Topic this week, we had a visit from a Paramedic. The children loved asking questions and finding out about this job. They even got the chance to go in the ambulance! They have been writing facts about what they learned from the Paramedic. They have also done some drama where they had to act out having a problem (e.g. a toothache) and a dentist helps them. We had lots of fun with that!
Home learning
Continued from last week: We would like your children to represent all the numbers bonds to 10 (10+0;9+1; 8+2 etc) in an interesting way. This could be drawing chalk circles on in the garden; using different coloured leaves e.g 8 yellow and 2 green; using peas and sweetcorn. They could then record this in their books, either by taking a photo or drawing what they did. We will share what the children have done in class.
Home learning is due in by Wednesday 16th October.
