Weekly News 8th March 2019
What a wonderful time we have had celebrating World Book Day (although we have celebrated all week!) The children have read with children in other year groups, have had different teachers read to them and have dressed up as a character from a story they enjoy. The children looked fantastic on Thursday so thank you very much to all the adults who helped with the costumes.
This week, we started our new Superhero topic! The children are already loving this topic. We have read the book Supertato and have created wanted posters for the Evil Pea and they have described the Supertato. A reminder that the children will need to come dressed as the Superhero they designed for their Love to Learn Task on Monday (11th March) - please do not go to any expense making these costumes! We cannot wait to see them (the children have already been telling us lots about their costumes!)
In maths this week, the children have been using words to compare the mass of objects (heavier and lighter) and have used weighing scales to start to measure how heavy something is (we used the cubes as a way of measuring how heavy the object was). They have also compared the length of objects (using the words shorter and longer) and have measured the length of the objects using cubes.
This term, the children will be doing gymnastics in their PE sessions. If your child does not have a PE kit ib school, please make sure one is sent in next week - many thanks.
Dates:
Monday 11th March - dress up as Superhero day
Friday 15th March - Comic Relief
Monday 18th March - Science Day (a planetarium will be in school on this day)
Many thanks for your continued support,
The Foundation Team
