Friday 16th July
We have come to the end of our final full week in Reception, and what a FABULOUS week it has been. Only 3 days left of this school year. The children are all definitely ready to spread their wings and fly off in to Year 1. We will miss them all very much but it will be great to see them when they are in Year 1. They have had their final transition session this week and all the children did fabulously in their new classroom.
Next week the children will be bringing their books home. Please could you send in a named carrier bag on Monday. Thank you.
A reminder that school finishes at 2pm on Wednesday 21st July.
Sports day will be on Monday 19th July at 1:45pm.
Reading books will not be changed after the weekend. We will collect in reading records to be passed on to their new teacher so please send in reading records and any reading books on Monday. Thank you.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support throughout this year. We wish you all a happy (and hopefully sunny) summer holidays.
Maths
In maths this week, we have been learning to name and describe 3D shapes. We have been learning about: cone, sphere, cube, cuboid and pyramid. We have been on a 3D shape hunt in the classroom and outside. We have also matched objects to 3D shapes.
Topic
This week, we have been reading the story ‘The Very Messy Mermaid.’ The children have loved listening to this story. We have been learning to write in sentences to describe what they would like at their birthday party. They have also decorated a mermaid’s tail with craft materials of their choice.
Have a great weekend!
