Thank you for all of the pictures and videos that you have sent to me this week.  The weather has been lovely for you to complete your challenges! 

 

This week, can you complete your challenge in fancy dress?  The crazier the better!

 

The Challenges are:

 

KS1

Can you balance on any part of your body for 10 seconds? Walk, Cycle or Run 1K (Choose one)

 

KS2

Can you balance a toilet roll on your head, lie on your back and get up again without dropping it? 

 

Walk, Cycle or Run 1K or 5K (Choose one or two)

Good morning reception! We hope you and your families are well and safe. Please find attached some fun activities to try at home provided by Thanet Inclusion Support Services. We have really enjoyed seeing your pictures and videos at home, keep up your amazing learning (adults, we thank you to for your time and effort!).

Phonics 

Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (15.6.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘c’.

After practicing writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘g’ and ‘b’ just as we did last term.

Now can you try writing these three words?

‘cat’ ‘cup’ ‘cap’

Alternatively, you can recap the sound ‘c’ with your child yourself.

Go on a pirate hunt to find things that have the sound ‘c’ in them. I found one, cabbage!

Writing task. 

Today we are going to dress up as a pirate! Use clothes and accessories you think a pirate would wear. 

Challenge: Draw your outfit and label the colours, types of clothes, does your pirate have a parrot?

 

Maths

Make your own number bunting! First you need to cut 10 triangles… remember they have three sides. You can get an adult to help you with this. Then you are going to write numbers 1-10 or if you are feeling confident write numbers 1-20 using the back (other side) of the bunting. Now you can decorate them and hang them somewhere in your home! Have fun bunting!

Topic

Find a pirate book at home and read it with your family! If you haven't got a pirate book or fancy something new, listen to this youtube video of ‘The Pirates Next Door!’ Talk about the Pirates in your story! What did they look like, how did they speak, what where they doing?

Tuesday

Good morning reception! We hope you enjoyed yesterday’s learning. Today we will be going on some more pirate adventures - Ahoy me hearties!

How many times can you write the sound ‘K’ in two minutes? 

Writing task.  

Now you have dressed up as a pirate, you are going to go on a voyage across the sea! (a voyage is a journey) Imagine you are on a boat, what have you seen on your voyage? Oh no! It’s a storm, your ship needs saving, the water is coming over the edge and you’re losing your treasure to the sea! What are you going to do? Think of a plan. 

Challenge: Write what you have seen on your voyage! 

Maths 

You made some wonderful number bunting yesterday and we are going to use it in today’s learning! Choose two numbers from your bunting and add them together. Use objects to help you and write the number sentence down. Keep going until you run out of numbers to use! 

 

Topic 

We are going to make our own pirate hat! Here is are a few videos to help you…

Draw three pictures of things that have the sound ‘u’ in them. Get an adult to hide them around the house and see how quickly you can find them! 

Writing task.  

A pirate’s meal. 

The pirate on the ship will chose his favourite dinner during special times of the year. You are going to choose your favourite dinner. See if you can cook it with your adult, or go through the ingredients with them. (You could draw it if you can’t cook it!) Why don’t you dress up and have a pirate party tea with your family.  

Challenge: write down the ingredients and how you will cook your dinner! 

 

Maths 

Please find attached a number formation worksheet. If you do not have a printer, practise writing your numbers in your book.

 

Topic

Yesterday you made a pirate hat, today you are going to make a sword. First, you need to do a bit of research. What were pirate swords made from? How did the pirates get their swords? Did all pirates have swords?

Write down what you found out!

Please find attached a pirate themed number formation pack that you can begin to fill out and an addition worksheet.

Topic

Pirates would write notes, put them into bottles and throw them to sea hoping that someone would find it. You are going to cerate your own message in a bottle today… give yourself a pirate name and write a message about what makes you the best pirate, draw or put a picture of yourself.

Maybe you could put some treasure inside.

Yesterday you listened to the story ‘How to be a pirate’ and in the story it told you how to become a pirate. During the story we find out that pirates have a parrot. You are going to draw your own parrot. What colours would your Parrot be? What would his name be? What would your Parrot say?

Complete another page of your number formation booklet.
