Home Learning 6.5.20
Home Learning 6.5.20
Happy Wednesday!
Let’s see what learning we have today:
Phonics
Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (6.5.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘w’.
After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘y’ and ‘v’.
Now can you try writing these three words?
‘win’ ‘wet’ ‘web’
No-tech phonics
If you want to try something other than the YouTube videos:
Go on a hunt to find things that have the sound ‘w’ in them… How many did you find around your homes?
When you find them can you write them down in your learning book?
Don't forget to practise fred talking (sounding out) and writing down the words 'win' 'wet' and 'web'
Writing activity
Challenge
See if you can remember your potion and spell from yesterday. Make a new potion today and write it down.
Maths
We used spin the wheel to help us share yesterday. Today we will be sharing food! Using raisins, orange segments, a cut up apple, a bag of crisps or anything you can find in your homes that will work. Start with sharing them between 2 groups.
You can draw two circles on a piece of paper.
Now try sharing between 3 groups, then 4. Make sure you have equal groups, sharing means we have fair, equal amounts!
Challenge
Can you share these pictures equally between two groups? How many do you get in each group?

Topic
We started making our own gardens yesterday. Today we are going to add some seeds into our soil. They do not need to be real seeds, we can pretend by rolling up some paper. Then I want you to make a tree in your garden. Have a look on the internet to inspire which tree you want in your garden. My favourite is a Japanese maple tree!
Challenge:
Label your tree and seeds!
Check out our new 'Padlet' pages to help us stay in touch!
