Happy Monday Reception! 

Here is our learning for today: 

Phonics 

Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (4.5.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘V’. 

After practicing writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘j’ and ‘m’. 

Now can you try writing these three words? 

‘vet’ ‘van’ ‘vest’ 

No-tech phonics 

Alternatively, you can recap the sound ‘v’ with your child yourself. 

Practice writing the sound ‘v’ on your grownups back. Use your finger to go down the Vultures wing and back up his wing. Then practice it, using your finger, on the floor, this time say ‘vvvvvvvv’ as you do it.  

Now try writing these three words on paper, you can draw a picture to go with them to if you like.

Writing activity 

Today we are looking at three words from the Poem. Can you try writing these in something? You could use sand, water or a box of Lego.

Challenge: 

Can you act out these three words and see if your adult can guess which one you are acting? 

Maths 

We are sharing this week! 

 You need to find 4 toys. Can you share these four toys equally between you and your adult? How many have you each got? 

Now find 6 pens or pencils. Share these equally between you and your adult. How many have you each got? Make sure you both have the same amount, that’s great sharing! 

Can you find 10 shoes? Now share them between you and your adult. How many have you each got? 

 

Challenge: 

Find 16 socks. Can you share them between you and your adult? Have you both got the same amount?
