We hope you had a lovely weekend. Here are your challenges for home learning today: 

Phonics 

Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (27.4.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘e’.

After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘b’ and ‘d’ just as we did last term.

Now can you try writing these three words?

‘bed’ ‘met’ ‘let’

No-tech phonics

Alternatively, you can recap the sound ‘e’ with your child yourself.

You could write down some sounds (including e, b and d) and hide them around your house. Have your child go on a sound hunt. When they find the sound they must say it and practise writing it in the air.

When they have found all of the sounds they can use them to spell the words ‘bed’, ‘met’ and ‘let’.

This week we will be learning about subtraction. Please find attached a PowerPoint containing subtraction number sentences and pictorial representations. Work through each number sentence with your child using mathematical vocabulary.

At mealtimes, use your food to help you practise subtraction. For example:

I have 10 raisins. Eat 2. That leaves 8.

I have 3 potatoes. Eat 1. That leaves 2.
