Happy Thursday morning everyone! We're calling today ‘Throwback Thursday’ and listening to all of our favourite songs from the past to give us a boost. Maybe you could listen to some of your favourite music whilst doing your learning. So, let’s have a look at todays learning.
We will be phoning you once to a week to check in and see how you are getting on. The number will come up as withheld or 'no caller ID'. If we aren't able to get through to you we will try again another day. :)
Phonics:
Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (23.4.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘b’.
After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘u’ and ‘k’ just as we did last term.

Writing task
This week we have been following the story of Mavis the Magical Cat which can be found as an attatchement below.
Do you remember the story? Recap with your adult to make sure, if you're really unsure read the story again.
Today we will be completing a rhyming activity. Did you know, rhymes can help us remember a story better? This rhyme is short and fun and you can make up actions to go with it! See if you can learn the rhyme and come up with some actions. Afterwards perform it to your family, I am sure they would love to see your creative movements to go with the rhyme.
Writing Challenge
You have made some wonderful actions to go with the rhyme, now it’s time for you to come up with your own! You might need some help from an adult to write it down. Keep this rhyme in your home learning book, we will look at these when we come back to school!
Maths
In topic we have been learning about growth. We are going to use what we have learnt to help us with some addition. Here are some questions for you to answer in your home learning books.
Jack has two beans, he finds three more. How many has he got altogether?
(You can use paper and draw the beans or use objects to help you!)
Jack has 4 beans and finds 3 more. How many has he got all together?
The beanstalk has 5 leafs and then grows 2 more. How many leafs has the beanstalk got now?
The beanstalk has 7 leafs and 4 more grow. How many leafs are there now?
Miss Miles plants 8 seeds and then she plans 4 more. How many has she got now?
Miss Gorham plants 6 seeds and then plants 5 more. How many has she got now?
In the garden 7 plants grow and then 5 more grow. How many plants have grown?
In the garden 11 plants grow and then 6 more grow. How many plants have grown?
Challenge
See how many plants you can count in your garden or from your window. Write your number down. Now count how many trees you can see in your garden or from your window. Write this amount down. Now count how many bushes you can see and write this number down. See if you can add these amounts together. How many plants, trees and bushes are around you?
Topic

Cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green, strawberry’s sweeter than any I’ve seen… if you do not know this song, you will learn it as your children go through Chilton. It’s a fabulous song and often gets stuck in our heads.
In topic we have been looking through the PowerPoint about fruits and vegetables. We have been learning about where fruits and vegetables grow. Today, you are going to be investigators. I want you to look at the fruit and vegetables in your home. Write down what they are and draw a picture, then look and see where it comes from. Was it made here or in another country? If you cannot find this out on the label of the food, ask a grown up to help you find out by looking on the Internet.
Challenge
Write down your favourite fruit and vegetables and investigate where they came from.
